Loyal Hearts
1 Chronicles 29:18
O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this desire in the hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you.
This chapter may have more hearts in it than any so far. This follows the last verse, which ended with a reference to how willingly the people had given. David asks of God that the desire to give would remain alive in their hearts, as well as loyalty to God.
Verse 14, like this one, looks to God as the source of all that is in our hearts and in our hands. "Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand."
God, please give me what I need. I don't even know what I need. Give me the right desires.
